Meeting is adjourned!
Yesterday was our Curriculum Revision Part 2. We first reviewed the latest curriculum for BSIT. We decided to atleast pattern our curriculum to TESDA’s Ladderization program with ICT competencies to it. We had great time brainstorming some critical topics like of whether eliminating c/c++ as the foundation PL for Programming 1 and possible used Java to replace it. As instructor of Programming 1, I defended the fact that it is not easy to replace that language then shift to another one. Fortunately, they understood me for that bu also I have presented some reasons why we need to stick to c/c++ as the foundation language.
We planned also to have majoring in our BSIT degree. These are the majors (just tentative one): BSIT major in Software Engineering, BSIT major in Network Systems Administration, BSIT major in Database Administration and BSIT major in Multimedia Processing.
Next session we have will be to review the curriculum for BSCS, some faculty ( i do not know if he mean what he was saying, that he wants to request for abolishment of CS, first impression, I was shocked, not to mentioned that I am a graduate of BSCS)…Let’s see if we could discuss that one on the next session, definitely we have to!
Enough for today!
God bless everyone!

hmm…majoring in IT..sounds good. that way, the students would have a clear target of focus in this awfully wide IT world. it’s sad, though that in case implemented, we wouldn’t be able to take advantage of such curriculum, anymore. well, lucky are the future studes of the UIC IT prog
